1n10 Youth Services is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving and assisting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth, ages 14 to 22.  1n10 provides youth with tools to improve self-esteem and acceptance of who they are by creating a safe space, mentally and physically, for all socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.  1n10 is committed to working in collaboration with other local and national organizations that provide service to teens.   

 

Overview of Position 

1n10 is seeking an experienced leader with an understanding of youth sensibility and issues affecting youth.  The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker who is committed to furthering the development of 1n10 as an organization while continuing to ensure outstanding services to LGBTQ youth. The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors.  Background check required. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Manage day-to-day operations of 1n10. 
  • Administer budget in collaboration with the Board Treasurer. 
  • Manage and enhance fund development through individual and corporate relationships. 
  • Maintain donor database and correspondence. 
  • Research and manage grants. 
  • Represent 1n10 as a spokesperson to the media and at public events. 
  • Attend at least two evening program meetings per month in Phoenix or Tempe
  • Work with program staff to organize community events.  
  • Prepare and present monthly board reports, staff board committees. 
  • Recruit, supervise and train 1n10 staff. 
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures.

Professional Skills & Characteristics 

  • High level of energy and enthusiasm, and a track record of professionalism, innovation and integrity. 
  • Commitment to and knowledge of LGBTQ issues. 
  • Commitment to the mission of 1n10. 
  • Demonstrated ability in resource development for nonprofit organizations. 
  • Exceptional writing skills, grant writing skills strongly desired. 
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues, volunteers, donors and partners. 
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with a history of superior results. 

Experience & Education 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in social work or other related field. 
  • 3-5 years of high level experience with an organization or business that demonstrates exceptionally high level of strategic thinking, project management and leadership. 
  • Experience with youth preferred. 

Salary & Benefits

This full-time position offers a competitive salary up to $65K, based on experience, and a

benefit package that includes medical, short-term disability, holiday pay and more.
